If you suspect that your Xbox 360 freezing problems are being caused by overheating, you should first unplug all cables that are connected to the console, such as controllers, USB devices, and detachable drives. Remove the hard drive from the console and let them both cool down in a safe, well-ventilated place, but at room temperature. Never let them cool down using cold air. Put back the hard drive into the console, attach the cables, and turn on the unit.

Sometimes, an Xbox 360 could slow down or totally freeze because of a corrupted game save or cache. Your cache is just filled with temporary data that serves to make certain parts of a game load faster, so you don’t need to worry about clearing it. Go to the SYSTEM section of your Xbox 360 dashboard. Select MEMORY, then HARD DRIVE, and then press Y on the controller to view the Device Options screen.
